In keeping with its commitment to celebrating local cultural heritage, Qatar Museums presents a new animated short, The Donkey Lady, based on a traditional folktale that has been passed down for generations. Likely designed to protect children from the dangers of venturing out alone under the hot desert sun, The Donkey Lady presents a cautionary tale of what can happen to those who stray far from home. In this version of the story, young Khalid and Maryam are lost in the desert when they come across a shadowy female figure and her car. The mysterious woman offers them a ride home, if they can help her change her flat tire. But something isn’t quite right, and soon enough, Khalid and Maryam discover that all is not as it seems.

Ever hear a story that makes you say “How have I never heard this before”??? That’s how I felt when I heard Bill Burr telling the story of Marlin Briscoe - the first black quarterback in the NFL. With a record setting rookie season, Marlin looked like a guaranteed star at the position. However, things did not go quite as planned.
Teaming up with one of my favorite sports artist, Brian Callaghan and expert animator Rishab Soni, we were able to bring this story to life.
This is a story that ALL sports fans need to know.

FROM HERE TO ANYWHERE: the story of football in qatar (2022)

The narrative leading up to the legendary 2022 FIFA World Cup was that Qatar had no right to host the tournament and that Qatar had no history of football. We dug deep to learn quite the contrary.
In this documentary, key figures who have helped shape Qatar’s football legacy talk about the nation’s journey to becoming the sporting hub it is today.
Through interviews and archival footage, it traces the passion for football that has always been at the heart of Qatar, from early matches played in the sand and gravel, to the 1980s national team whose achievements shocked the world and the sport’s explosive popularity under the leadership of His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani.

MCMAFIA - new bbc drama series

McMafia is a BBC eight-part drama series created by Hossein Amini and James Watkins and directed by James Watkins.It was inspired by the non- fiction book, McMafia: A Journey Through the Global Crime Underworld (2008) by journalist Misha Glenny.
It is co-produced by the BBC, AMC and Cuba Pictures. Broadcast on BBC One started on 1 January 2018. Episode 1 and 2 were co-produced by Justin Kramer and The Film House.
It stars James Norton as Alex Godman, the English-raised son of Russian mafia exiles, who has spent his life trying to escape the shadow of their past, building his own legitimate business and forging a life with his girlfriend Rebecca. But when a murder forces his family's past to return to threaten them, Alex is drawn into the criminal underworld and must confront his values to protect those he loves.

One of the most pretigous airlines in the world offers one of the best rewards programs for their frequent flyers. In this film, Justin combined bespoke scenes shot locally in Qatar with some stock footage from global desitations to celebrate the benefits and locations accessible through the Qatar Airways Privilege Club.
VODAFONE QATAR - Qnd 2017

To celebrate Qatar National Day, Vodafone tapped Justin to write and direct a TVC that reflected the theme "Nostalgia for the future".
Reflecting Qatar's sentimentality for the past while always looking to the future; this TVC features subtle (and not so subtle) moments that touch the Qatari community.
The film had a very successful social media presence and continues to be a favorite amongst locals.
TARSHEED - THE DROP DIRECTOR'S CUT

After it's success as a 30 second television spot, we created a Director's Cut to allow for the film to play out the way we originally envisioned it.
This cut was the winner of the Best Cinematography Bronze award at 2016 Dubai Lynx. It is also in consideration for several other film festivals including an ACT Responsible Tribute Award this June 2016 in Cannes, France.
SILATECH - UNITED NATIONS FILM

As an NGO, Silatech’s mission is to connect young people to economic opportunities and jobs through innovative enterprise development and employment initiatives. Silatech’s vision is an Arab world in which young people are able to work, and are engaged in the economic development of their societies.
Justin wrote and directed this film which was shot on location in Sudan and Morocco and originally shown at the United Nations in 2017.

As anROTA envisages a world in which all young people have access to the education and training they need in order to realize their full potential and shape the development of their communities. ROTA’s mission is that, together with partners, volunteers, and local communities, ROTA works to ensure that people affected by crisis across Asia and around the world have continuous access to relevant and high-quality primary and secondary education.
To educate and celebrate the success of ROTA's mission, Justin was commissioned to travel to remote locations where ROTA initiatives have had a positive influence in the lives of young people. The film was shot on location in Palestine, Lebanon, Nepal, and Tunisia.

HAIRAAT FINE JEWELLERY - BRAND FILM

When approached by Nada Al-Sulaiti (founder and designer) of HAIRAAT FINE JEWELLERY, Justin and The Film House were enthusiastic to support a local, up and coming designer who draws influences from the nature and history of Qatar.
Pairing her collection with areas of Qatar like mangroves, petroglyphs, museums and public artwork, Justin was able to create a brand film that shares not only the jewellery but the elements that inspired it.
The film premiered at the 2017 Doha Jewellery & Watch Exhibition as well as being featured on France24 and Al Jazeera.
DEFINITELY ABLE - VOICES

Sasol and The British Council Qatar joined forces with key Qatari partners in the field of inclusion and diversity to hold a ground-breaking event in 2015: the ‘Definitely Able Conference and Ilham Art Exhibition’ which was held at the Museum of Islamic Art. This event builds on Sasol’s on-going ‘Definitely Able’ initiative and the Arts and Disability Festival during Qatar UK 2013 Year of Culture.
The Film House crafted a film for the opening night gala dinner at the Museum of Islamic Art which also played throughout the two day conference.
The film features seven local and regional disabled people who talk about the trails and tribulations they experience in their day to day lives as well as the successes that they have achieved despite their difficulties.
This film was the winner of a Silver Dolphin at the 2015 Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in the category 'Best Non-profit/CSR Film'.
HERE IS MY SECRET - ART INSTALLATION FILM

To celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan and stress the importance of precious resource conservation, Justin was brought on to create two films that take the viewer back to the early days of Qatar. Tarsheed, under the patronage of HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has a mission to ensure Qatar’s resources are protected for the benefit of future generations. In these epic journeys, we are transported to the early 1900’s where two camel riders search the endless desert for a source of water, careful of every drop of their reserves and two children search for innovative ways to keep cool in the summer sun.

As an international ambassador for Qatar’s art scene, Sheikh Khalid Al Thani’s ambition is to establish a unique and authentic Qatari photographic landscape.
The exquisite landscapes seen through the lens of the artist reveal the beauty that the Qatari desert holds. Each facet of this project appeals differently to the individual viewer, yet when combined the audience is transported to a universal, ageless desert filled with beauty, mystery and intrigue.
Shot on 16mm film on location in the Qatar desert, this series of films directed by Justin Kramer, serve as teasers for Sheikh Khalid’s VIP reception at Paris Photo 2014.
Portugal. The Man – All Your Light music video

In 2011, Justin Kramer teamed up with British claymation artist Lee Hardcastle to create the music video for Portugal. The Man’s song “All Your Light”.
The song is featured on Portugal. The Man’s sixth studio album and first on Atlantic Records.
The video was premiered on Juxtapoz.com in October 2011 and went on to win Best Music Video at the 3rd annual Silver Sound Music Video Film Festival in Brooklyn, NY later that year.
ZABALEEN

"Zabaleen" (or "Garbage Collector") is the story of Mourad and his family. Mourad and his sons are garbage collectors and all of the families income is generated by the garbage they collect each day. They live on the outskirts of Cario called Manshayet Nasser or more commonly known as "Garbage City”.
Manshayet Nasser is home to about 70,000 people. No matter their religion, they are all the same. They are all garbage collectors. They all live off of the 15,000 tons of garbage produced by Cairo's 17.8 million residents daily.
This film, shot over the course of four years, chronicles the daily life and hardships faced by Mourad and his family of 11. The massive obstacles put forth by their government, religious tensions, and a looming revolution that will change their lives forever.
Zabaleen was selected as IndieWire’s Project of the Week in December 2011. Justin was also invited to show work in progress scenes and lecture at Harvard’s Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology in April 2012.
Zabaleen was released in film festivals in 2015.

In 2013, Justin came on as associate producer for Vincent Moon’s film series for the legendary English music festival.
Each film is curated by a different artist including Thurston Moore, Portishead, Pitchfork, My Bloody Valentine, Explosions in the Sky, Melvins, Mike Patton and more.
MALA MALA

In 2013, Justin became an associate producer for MALA MALA; a new documentary about trans life in Puerto Rico. The film is directed by Dan Sickles & Antonio Santini and is produced by Killer Films.
Mala Mala had it’s world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in 2014 and opened to rave reviews from the press including Hollywood Reporter, IndieWire, Variety and more. It continues to play on the festival circuit.
